Pornstar Lisa Ann Announces Retirement

Legendary adult performer Lisa Ann inspired fans to reach for the tissue box for a new reason earlier this week. On Monday, the 2009 AVN Hall of Fame inductee announced her retirement from performing in the adult industry, via a 10 page hand written note on her official Facebook page.

Lisa Ann began her career in adult entertainment dancing at Al’s Diamond Cabaret in Reading, PA, in 1990, while going to college to become a Dental Assistant. She shot her first scene in July 1993 at the age of 21 and the following year. In July 1993 at the age of 21, Lisa Ann shot her first scene, and the following year moved to California to pursue a career in the porn industry. Her star power continued to grow over the next few years, but was cut short in 1997 when she retired from performing after witnessing an AIDS scare in the industry. She would spend the next few years focusing on featuring dancing, but ultimately decided to return to the adult industry as an agent. Soon after her return, she discovered that there was a huge demand for her to get back in front of the camera, and in February 2006, the first film starring Lisa Ann in nearly a decade was released.

Little did she realize at that point, that her return to the adult industry was a step closer to mainstream super stardom, as she was vaulted into the mainstream spotlight in late 2008, after starring in the title role of Hustler Video’s “Who’s Nailin’ Paylin,” an adult parody of 2008 Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin at the height of the 2008 presidential campaign. In addition to two other Palin inspired titles, Lisa Ann has shot more than 450 titles during her illustrious career, as well as directing more than a dozen titles, and has been inducted into the AVN, XRCO, and Urban X Hall of Fames.

While making her living in the adult industry, Lisa Ann was never shy about admitting her passion was sports, and the avid Dallas Cowboys fan would fly to games, both home and away, as often as her performing schedule allowed it. It seems only fitting that in announcing her retirement from performing in porn, Lisa is focusing on starting a career in fantasy sports, and has her eyes set on Sirius radio where she hosts the “Lisa Ann Does Fantasy” fantasy football show.

Even though Lisa Ann is content to hang her jersey from the adult industry’s rafters at the end of 2014, in her retirement note she vowed that fans will not have to go “cold turkey” as she still has a treasure trove of unreleased scenes which will be released over time on her website, as well as promising to continue making personal appearances, and even web cam shows on special occasions. She’ll also be working with pornstar Jayden Jaymes, with whom she founded the porn star career consulting firm the Porn Star Bootcamp, as well as launching her own online store on Christmas Day.
